A slogan now echoing across the six local government areas of the district captures the mood: “We won’t allow a man who slapped and stripped a Perm Sec to represent us in Abuja.”
Severe political turbulence has engulfed the campaign of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, ahead of the Enugu North Senatorial District by‑election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
His controversial past has resurfaced, casting a shadow over his legislative ambitions.
The by‑election follows the death of Labour Party (LP) Senator Okey Ezea, who passed away in a Lagos hospital on November 18, 2025.
As voters prepare to head to the polls, public outrage and a resurgent narrative of tyranny have dominated the political atmosphere, severely undermining Asogwa’s electoral standing.
