The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Chief Ikeje Asogwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election held on Saturday.
According to official results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Christian Ezebe, Asogwa secured a landslide victory with 162,360 votes, defeating his closest rival, Dr. Nestor Ezeme of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 9,299 votes.
Prof. Ezebe announced the result in the early hours of Sunday at the INEC collation centre.
The election, however, was reportedly marred by allegations of violence, voter intimidation, attacks on opposition supporters, and other electoral irregularities.
"I hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2026 Enugu North Senatorial District Bye-Election held on June 20, 2026," Ezebe declared.
