Ikeje Asogwa, the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared the winner in the just-concluded Enugu North Senatorial by-election, recording a landslide victory with 162,360 votes out of 184,094 accredited voters.

Announcing the results in the early hours of Sunday at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Office in Enugu, the electoral officials declared Asogwa the winner after he secured a commanding lead across the Senatorial District. His closest rival, Nestor Ezeme of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), polled 9,299 votes to finish second in the election.

The outcome, according to Samson Ezea, Asogwa’s Director of Media and Strategy Communication, Ikeje Asogwa Campaign Organisation, reflects the overwhelming support enjoyed by Asogwa across the six Local Government Areas that make up Enugu North Senatorial District, cementing his mandate as the Senator-elect for the District.
