Classified material from the investigation on Hamas members arrested in Greece and Cyprus sheds light on details of their operation.

Three suspects were arrested between May 21 and June 6; a 37-year-old, referred to as “Yusef” had worked at least two jobs in Greece, where he had been given asylum, despite claiming he had lost ID documents. He had also tried to obtain asylum in Germany, although Greek authorities believe this may have been a tactic to throw authorities off his trail.

“Yusef” apparently had relations with two other individuals in Greece, who have not been arrested, as well as with a man called “Abdul” who resides in Indonesia.

Abdul allegedly suggested the use of rdx, an explosive said to be 50% more powerful than TNT. He also advised Yusef to rent a house with a garden to justify purchases of fertilizers for bomb-making.
