Participants can expect a course incorporating single-track sections, coastal forest trails, farm roads, technical descents, challenging climbs and panoramic views of the coastline and countryside.
The inaugural Renishaw Solstice Race, taking place on Saturday, June 20, at Crocworld Adventure & Conservation Centre, will introduce athletes and outdoor enthusiasts to a newly developed network of coastal forest trails on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
Situated within the Renishaw Coastal Precinct near Scottburgh, the trail system has been designed for trail running, mountain biking, hiking and other nature-based activities.
According to Renishaw Coastal Precinct Managing Director Barto van der Merwe, the trails provide visitors with access to some of the area's natural spaces, traversing indigenous coastal forest, riverine corridors, open grasslands and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Indian Ocean.
The trail network begins at Crocworld Adventure & Conservation Centre and forms part of a broader outdoor recreation system extending through the Renishaw Coastal Precinct and surrounding areas. More than 100 kilometres of trails have already been developed and maintained through partnerships with local organisations and sporting clubs.
