Nathaniel Brown did what most footballers only dream about. The Eintracht Frankfurt defender scored in his very first World Cup match, finding the net during Germany’s opening 2026 FIFA World Cup fixture against Curaçao.
The 22-year-old left-back, who was born on 16 June 2003, described the moment as indescribable. He also noted that Germany still has work to do, telling reporters the team must address its weaknesses heading deeper into the tournament.
From Bundesliga breakout to World Cup starter
Brown joined Eintracht Frankfurt’s senior squad in 2023. By the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, he had tallied 4 goals and 4 assists across 33 appearances, starting 29 of those matches.
His first senior call-up to the German national team came in October 2025 for World Cup qualifiers. By the time Germany announced its 26-man World Cup squad around 21 May 2026, Brown’s inclusion felt less like a surprise and more like an inevitability.
