The Command said the directive, which takes effect from Monday, June 15, 2026, is in compliance with instructions from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, and will be coordinated under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai.
The Lagos State Police Command has announced that it will begin a statewide enforcement exercise against vehicles with covered, obscured, defaced, unauthorised, or completely missing registration number plates.
The Command said the directive, which takes effect from Monday, June 15, 2026, is in compliance with instructions from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, and will be coordinated under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command instructed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers across Lagos to commence immediate enforcement within their respective jurisdictions.
Adebisi stated that vehicles found in violation of the directive are to be impounded and subjected to thorough investigation in line with existing laws and established police procedures.
