GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Flash floods triggered by heavy rains disrupted parts of Maasim and Maitum towns in Sarangani on Friday, June 13, stranding motorists and passengers after a bridge in Barangay Kanalo was rendered impassable, authorities said.
The Maasim Information Office (MIO) said in an afternoon advisory that the Kumaba Bridge had to be closed after floodwaters reached parts of its support structure, raising concerns over its stability.
Police and disaster response teams assisted stranded passengers and secured affected areas during the flooding.
