Inkatha Freedom Party President Velenkosini Hlabisa will deliver a keynote address at a rally in eShowe on Sunday ahead of the voter registration weekend next week.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) is intensifying its campaign for the 2026 local government elections following the completion of its nationwide branch inauguration programme.

The party will hold a major rally at the eShowe Sports Club in the King Cetshwayo District on Sunday, where IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa is expected to deliver the keynote address.

The rally comes as the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) prepares to conduct a two-day voter registration drive next weekend ahead of the local government elections scheduled for November 4, 2026.

Hlabisa’s address will also take place just days before the 50th anniversary of Youth Day on June 16, commemorating the lives lost during the 1976 Soweto Uprising when apartheid security forces opened fire on protesting students.
