A head constable attached to Arumuganeri police station has been placed under suspension following circulation of an audio clip on social media on inappropriate messages allegedly sent by him to a woman from Kayalpattinam in Thoothukudi district.According to police sources, a complaint regarding a theft incident was filed by a person from Kayalpattinam on June 5. Based on the complaint, police called individuals whose names appeared on the list of suspects for inquiry. During the investigation, a 30-year-old woman from Kayalpattinam was questioned and the head constable visited her house for inquiry. Since then, the head constable allegedly started sending her messages on Whatsapp and attempted video calls.Disturbed by this, the woman showed the messages on her mobile phone to a social worker from Kayalpattinam and expressed her distress. The social worker contacted the head constable over the phone and questioned him about the alleged misconduct. The audio recording of the conversation later went viral on whatsapp and other social media platforms.Following this, the office of Thoothukudi District Superintendent of Police issued a suspension order on Friday.
