A mid-level police officer formerly attached to Arumuganeri police station has been placed under suspension following the launch of an inquiry into alleged sexual harassment of a woman head constable, who is now attached to the Singappen Special Task Force (SSTF).According to sources, the woman head constable who had joined the SSTF on May 28 was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment through text messages while she was serving at Arumuganeri police station.Sources added the officer was among those transferred in the recent shuffle and is yet to take up his posting at Cheranmahadevi police station.When The Hindu contacted a senior police officer to ascertain whether the suspension was based on findings from the inquiry and whether a formal complaint had been received from the woman head constable, the officer said the suspension has been ordered for fair inquiry and the head constable was yet to lodge a formal complaint.
