Department of Labour investigates the circumstances surrounding Gcina Dhladhla's death.

The Department of Employment and Labour has launched an in-depth investigation into the death of 29-year-old Cartrack employee Gcina Dhladhla, who passed away at the company's Rosebank offices.

Deputy Minister Jomo Sibiya confirmed that labour inspectors have already visited the premises as authorities seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any labour or workplace safety regulations were breached.

"Yesterday I spoke to the chief inspector regarding the matter. We are doing a thorough investigation, and we want to make sure that we leave no stone unturned, but we want to be sure of exactly what happened," he told the SABC.

Jomo told the broadcaster that the department will also be focusing on whether the company complied with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
