Tsaragi alleged that some individuals attempted to disrupt the protest but insisted that members of the movement would not be intimidated or deterred from pursuing their demands.
Members of the Take-It-Back Movement staged a peaceful protest in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, demanding the immediate rescue of residents abducted across various communities in the state and issuing a 72-hour ultimatum to the government to secure their release.
The protesters, who converged at Tanke Junction as early as 7am, marched through major roads within the metropolis before terminating the demonstration at the Kwara State Government House along Ahmadu Bello Way.
The protest comes amid growing concerns over rising cases of kidnapping, violent attacks and insecurity across several parts of Kwara State, particularly in Edu, Patigi, Ifelodun and communities in Kwara South, where residents have repeatedly raised alarm over persistent abductions and attacks by criminal elements.
Addressing the demonstrators at the Government House, the Kwara State Coordinator of the Take-It-Back Movement, Saidu Tsaragi, said the worsening security situation had rendered the Democracy Day celebration meaningless for many families whose loved ones remain in kidnappers’ custody.
