Tension erupted at the Ikeja Underbridge area of Lagos State on Friday after suspected political thugs confronted protesters participating in a June 12 demonstration against insecurity, economic hardship and poor governance, demanding that they leave the protest veue.

Despite the confrontation, the demonstrators, including members of the #EndBadGovernance movement and human rights activists, refused to back down, insisting they would continue their protest.

One of the protesters, Seaking, accused unnamed individuals of attempting to intimidate participants and disrupt the demonstration.

“Some hired thugs are coming here to tell us that we need to stop the protest and leave this place, but we're not going anywhere, no matter who you send, we will not leave,” he declared in a video shared on X by activist Oyindamola, popularly known as @dammiedammie35.
