A 47-year-old Iraqi woman was arrested after her 13-year-old child was found crying and alone on a street in Thessaloniki in northern Greece, police said.
The child was discovered on a street in the city’s Toumba neighborhood on Thursday afternoon by a resident who alerted authorities, according to police.
Officers from the local crime investigation unit launched an inquiry and located the child’s mother shortly afterward.
The woman was arrested on charges of exposing a minor to danger, police said. A case file has been opened against her.
