The contractors, under the umbrella of the Association of Unpaid Imo State Contractors and Suppliers (2011–2019), said they are owed at least N6.4 billion for road construction, infrastructure projects, and supply contracts executed during the administration of former governor Rochas Okorocha.
A group of contractors and suppliers engaged by the Imo State Government between 2011 and 2019 have accused successive administrations of failing to pay for completed and verified projects, warning that it will pursue legal action and sustained public campaigns if the debts remain unsettled.
The contractors, under the umbrella of the Association of Unpaid Imo State Contractors and Suppliers (2011–2019), said they are owed at least N6.4 billion for road construction, infrastructure projects, and supply contracts executed during the administration of former governor Rochas Okorocha.
The contractors, through their spokesperson, Great Nwoke, alleged that despite completing projects and securing government acceptance of the works, many of them have not received payment for the job done after more than a decade.
According to Nwoke, contractors undertook the projects based on duly awarded contracts, approvals and official documentation, often without receiving mobilisation fees from the government.
