National Assembly finally adopted on Thursday the report of the Ethics Committee imposing a R10, 000 fine to Deputy President Paul Mashatile for violating the Ethical Code of Conduct for MPs.

National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza on Thursday administered a reprimand to several MPs, including Deputy President Paul Mashatile after they were found to have violated the Ethical Code of Conduct for parliamentarians.

This after the plenary session adopted nine reports from the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interest concerning eight members.

Apart from Mashatile, other MPs are former higher education minister Nobuhle Nkabane, Public Works and Infrastructure minister Dean Macpherson, DA MP and chairperson of the Police Portfolio Committee Ian Cameron, National Coloured Congress leader and MP Fadiel Adams, Patriotic Alliance MP Marlon Daniels as well as MK Party MPs’ David Skosana and Visvin Reddy.

The DA objected to the adoption of the reports related to Cameron and Macpherson.
