Marc Pinizzotto was a father of two, a former professional hockey player in Europe and a dedicated Toronto police officer. On Thursday, the 43-year-old was fatally struck in exchange of gunfire during an early morning raid at an apartment building in Toronto’s northwest end.
Pinizzotto, a 18-year veteran with the Toronto Police Service and member of the Emergency Task Force, was shot around 5:40 a.m. while his team was executing a search warrant at the highrise building in the Trethewey Drive and Black Creek Drive area. He was pronounced dead in hospital.
