NewsUK NewsTwo suspicious items found in Fallowfield, Manchester, prompted police to evacuate the area last week16:48, 11 Jun 2026Updated 16:49, 11 Jun 2026Police have given an update after two suspicious items found in Manchester last week saw residents evacuated and bomb squads called to the area.Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to Abram Close, Fallowfield at around 6pm on Saturday (June 6) following reports of two items which had been discarded in the front yard of a nearby house.A search of the property saw officers uncover addition items of concern, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were called in as a precaution, prompting evacuations.In a statement released on Tuesday, GMP said a man had since been arrested on suspicion of offences under Section 4 of the Explosives Act. Residents have since been able to return to their homes.Detective Chief Inspector Claire Brennan, from our Major Investigation Team, said: “We have a man in custody, and our investigation is progressing at pace.Article continues below“These incidents are currently being treated as isolated.
