A lorry with its boot open and an person dressed in camouflage can also be seen, with the incident unfolding.‌Dozens of officers are in attendance at Restalrig Avenue with locals telling of a 'road closed' sign being erected shortly before 3pm today.‌An eyewitness claimed officers spoke to residents telling them to leave their homes due to a package that had been found. Police can be seen standing at either end of the road to stop people from entering the street.A statement from Police Scotland read: "Restalrig Ave is closed between Loganlea Ave and Loganlea Drive due to a report of a potentially suspicious item. Emergency services and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) are in attendance."A cordon is in place as a precaution. The public is asked to avoid the area."‌The cordon is also causing travel disruption and a bus diversion is in place for the 25 service, reported EdinburghLive.Lothian Buses said: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Loganlea Drive and Restalrig Avenue and are instead diverted via Craigentinny Avenue, Portobello Road, Wakefield Avenue and terminating on Craigentinny Road until further notice."Meanwhile, a suspected unexploded World War Two bomb was found at a quarry in Staffordshire last week.‌Residents had to be evacuated near the site on Walton Lane, Barton-under-Needwood last Thursday evening. Trains running between Tamworth and Burton-on-Trent were also cancelled or delayed while the bomb was investigated, National Rail said.The bomb was safely detonated in a planned controlled explosion, said Staffordshire Police.A spokesperson said: "A controlled explosion has been carried out by specialists from Explosive Ordnance Disposal on the suspected WW2 bomb at a quarry in the Barton-under-Needwood area this evening.Article continues below"The cordon has been reduced from 900m to 200m, which will be removed fully this evening. A small number of residents who had been evacuated are returning to their properties.
