The Union government has sanctioned ₹119 crore for the repair and development of 18 major roads under Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency, according to Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary.The money has been sanctioned from Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), he said in a statement.Some of those roads, under Public Works Department (PWD), are Balehonnur-Sringeri (₹50 crore); Koppa-Jayapura-Sringeri, Kundapur-Byndoor-Virajpet and Udupi-Hiriyadkka-Karkala-Subrahmanya (all ₹6 crore each); Brahmavar-Jannadi (₹5 crore); Barkur Road (₹10 crore); Shroor-Kokkarne-Santhekatte (₹3 crore); Old MBC Road (₹1.60 crore); Aroor-Kokkarne (₹1.40 crore); Thirthahalli-Kundapur (₹2 crore); Muniyalu-Kabbinale, Atrady-Mangaluru, Kuntady-Kemmannu and Naravi-Mangaluru (all ₹1 crore each).All the road projects have been sanctioned and their repair and development will be taken up soon, he said.Mr. Poojary thanked Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways for sanctioning the amount.
