The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of orchestrating a “poorly scripted fabrication” over allegations that members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) planned to kidnap candidates sitting for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations in the South-East.
In a statement issued on Thursday, IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, alleged that the reported foiling of an ESN kidnap plot was a deliberate attempt to distract public attention from the ongoing legal proceedings of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The DSS had claimed that its operatives and troops of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday foiled a major attempt by members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to kidnap scores of students writing the ongoing WAEC examination in some South-East states.
According to the DSS, the targeted schools for the abductions were located in Enugu, Anambra, and Imo states.
The DSS, in a statement issued on Thursday, said that its operatives and Nigerian Army troops acted on credible intelligence and raided an ESN armoury in the Agbani area of Enugu State.
