The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied knowing or having any affiliation with retired Department of State Services (DSS) officer Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam, who was recently arraigned and remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre over allegations that he provided support to the separatist group.
In a statement issued on Friday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB dismissed the allegations as baseless, accused the DSS of orchestrating a propaganda campaign by falsely linking the group to the former operative, and another attempt to drag the group into an internal security agency affair.
Ezeakolam was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja by the DSS on a four-count charge bordering on alleged membership of IPOB and providing support to the separatist group.
