According to information received by IranWire, Mahsa Sotoudeh and Mandana Sotoudeh, two Baha’i sisters residing in Shiraz, have been detained in the city’s Adelabad Prison for over 70 days and continue to be held in a state of legal limbo.

Since their arrest, the two Baha’i citizens have been denied the right to make phone calls or receive visits from their families. Furthermore, their family has no information regarding the charges brought against them or the duration of their detention orders.

An informed source spoke with IranWire, expressing deep concern over the sisters’ situation: “What concerns the family most of all is Mandana’s physical condition. The 38-year-old has developed heart problems during her detention and requires urgent treatment. Her 25-year-old sister, Mahsa, has also fallen ill in prison and needs medication and medical attention.”

Mahsa Sotoudeh was arrested on March 29, 2026, and Mandana Sotoudeh was arrested on April 1, 2026, by agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization at their private residence in Shiraz. Despite more than two months having passed since their arrest, responsible authorities have not yet provided any explanation regarding the reasons for their detention, the status of their case, or the possibility of temporary release for the two Baha’i citizens.
