Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Law University C. Basavaraju says the initiative will promote legal education and advocacy skills through the medium of Kannada.

As many as 30 teams of law students from various law colleges and universities from across the State are expected to participate in the 12th Kannada Moot Court Competition organised by Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) Law School in Hubballi on Saturday and Sunday.According to a release issued by KSLU, the competition is an initiative towards promoting legal education and advocacy skills through the medium of Kannada and provides a unique platform for law students to enhance their legal reasoning, research, drafting and oral advocacy skills while encouraging the use of Kannada in legal discourse and courtroom practice.The moot proposition on SIR and Electoral Rolls is drafted by senior advocate of Dharwad Basavaprabhu Hosakeri.Apart from winners and runners-up trophy, prizes will be awarded under various categories, including best male and female advocate and best memorial.Judge of High Court of Karnataka in Dharwad S. Sunil Dutt Yadav will inaugurate the moot court competition at the KSLU auditorium in Navanagar, Hubballi, at 10 a.m. on Saturday.The valedictory ceremony will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the university auditorium. The event will be presided over by judges of High Court of Karnataka Geetha Kadaba Bharatharaja Setty and Rajeshwari Hegde. Vice-Chancellor C. Basavaraju will attend it, the release said.
