Operatives of the Obalende Division of the Ogun State Police Command have foiled an alleged plot to kidnap a Chinese national and extort a ransom of ₦50 million, arresting two suspected conspirators while launching a manhunt for another accomplice who remains at large.
The police identified the arrested suspects as Chinedu Onwuemena, 41, and Jimoh Ojo, 37.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, the suspects were apprehended on June 9, 2026, at about 5:30pm following credible intelligence indicating that a kidnapping operation was being planned along the Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu Expressway corridor.
The Command disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer of the Obalende Division received actionable intelligence about the impending abduction and immediately deployed operatives, including members of the Surveillance Team, to the identified location.
