The Social Media Investigation Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB), Greater Chennai Police, arrested YouTuber Mukhtar Ahmed, 48, on Wednesday for posting a video on YouTube which allegedly had obscene and derogatory remarks against racer Alisha Abdulla.This was based on a complaint filed by her on June 3. The complainant said the video uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘MY INDIA 24X7’ had vulgar, derogatory, and sexually coloured remarks about her and her newborn twins, and that it had affected their dignity and privacy. Subsequently, a case was registered and an investigation was launched. In connection with this case, Tiruchi Suriyaa, son of DMK Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi Siva, was already arrested on June 4. Mukhtar was apprehended at Mandya, Karnataka, and was remanded in judicial custody in Chennai. It was found that two cases were already pending against him. Investigations revealed that he had been consistently making defamatory remarks on social media and there were more than 20 complaints pending against him. City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj said strict legal action will be taken against those who post obscene, derogatory, and unlawful content that target women in websites and on social media platforms.
