The Cyber Crime Police of the Central Crime Branch (CCB), Greater Chennai Police, have arrested Tiruchi Surya in connection with a case involving the publication of a video on a YouTube channel that allegedly contained defamatory, obscene and derogatory remarks against a woman.The Social Media Investigation Wing of the CCB Cyber Crime Police Station took action following a complaint lodged by a Chennai-based woman with the Police Commissioner on Wednesday.According to the complaint, a video uploaded on the YouTube channel “MY INDIA 24x7” contained obscene, insulting and sexually explicit remarks targeting her and her newly born twin babies, thereby affecting her dignity and privacy.Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the CCB Cyber Crime Police Station and an investigation was initiated. During the course of the investigation, police arrested Tiruchi Surya (33), son of Trichy Siva, on Thursday for his alleged involvement in the offence. He was scheduled to be produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Saidapet.Police Commissioner A.Amalraj warned that publishing obscene, derogatory or otherwise unlawful content targeting women on social media platforms and websites is a serious offence and stated that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in such activities.
