The Government Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital received three ultramodern ECGs, thanks to the initiative of Revenue Divisional Officer, Thoothukudi, M. Prabhu. These most-modern machines are to be commissioned within a couple of days.Since Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital receives at least 4,000 patients every day, the hospital is in need of more number of wheelchairs, stretches, beds, water purifiers, ECGs and other medical equipments for diagnosis. When the TKMCH administration had submitted a long list of equipments required for better medical care to the patients, mostly from poor families, Mr. Prabhu approached a few companies in and around Thoothukudi, which sponsored wheelchairs, stretches, water purifiers and ECGs to TKMCH, District Employment Office and a few anganwadis in the city. After Mr. Prabhu appealed to a Thoothukudi-based businessman, he, who does not want to be named, has sponsored 3 ECGs, worth about ₹3 lakh, to TKMCH.“Besides saving the ECG report, these machines are capable of sharing immediately the ECG report to the patients through WhatsApp. So, the patients can take the report to any doctor for consultation or second opinion,” said a doctor from TKMCH.
