Officials inspect equipment readied for monsoon response in Coimbatore city on Wednesday.

Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) has placed pumps and backup generators at underpasses prone to waterlogging and readied emergency response teams as part of its southwest monsoon preparations.Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja on Wednesday (June 10) said more tree-cutting machines and personnel were deployed across the city to remove fallen trees and branches from roads. Officials would remain alert and respond to complaints from the public, he said.At Lanka Corner underpass, two pumps with capacities of 21 HP and 20 HP were placed. At Uppilipalayam flyover underpass, five pumps ranging from 12.5 HP to 30 HP were installed. A backup generator was also stationed there. At the underpass near Kikani School, three pumps with capacities of 28 HP, 20 HP and 7.5 HP were placed.At Kaleeswara Mill underpass, three motor pumps — a 36-HP pump and two 21-HP — were stationed along with a backup generator. Additional pumps were on standby.The public can report monsoon-related grievances through the Corporation’s WhatsApp helpline number, 81900 00200.
