The group said it welcomed the ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, describing the development as a crucial step toward accountability in the case filed against the senior police officer over incidents that allegedly occurred during an anti-eviction protest at the Lagos State House of Assembly on January 28, 2026.

The Youth Rights Campaign (YRC) has accused former Lagos State Police Commissioner, AIG Olohundare Jimoh Moshood, of attempting to evade court service in an ongoing fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by activist Taiwo Hassan Soweto over alleged torture, brutal assault, and violation of his constitutional rights during a protest in Lagos.

According to YRC, the court proceedings exposed what it called a “desperate attempt” by Moshood to avoid being served court processes.
