Tomas Albornoz starred for Pumas againnst the Springboks last year and will be back in the colours of the Barbarians to face the world champions in their first international match of 2026 next weekend.
Facing a strong Barbarians squad ahead of the Nations Championship Tests could prove crucial for the Springboks as they look to make a strong start to the 2026 international season.
Head coach Rassie Erasmus will no doubt have a broad smile on his face knowing that several established internationals have already been confirmed for the Barbarians squad that will take on the Boks at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha next weekend.
Scotland winger Duhan van der Merwe, Argentina flyhalf Tomas Albornoz and Australia winger Andrew Kellaway are among the headline names announced so far, while former All Blacks scrumhalf TJ Perenara and England prop Kyle Sinckler add even more quality and experience to the invitational outfit.
More international stars are expected to be added to the squad in the coming days, which should ensure a far sterner challenge than the one the Barbarians posed when they faced the Springboks in Cape Town in 2025.
