The scent and flavor of synthetic banana can be polarizing — my boyfriend won’t touch the banana Runts, for example, which happily means more for me — but right now, the fragrance world appears to be solidly in the pro-banana camp. I’ve noticed a slew of recent perfume releases that feature banana as the hero ingredient, and I’m all for it. Because it’s not as straightforwardly sweet as vanilla or as fruity as cherry, it has a surprising versatility that appeals to lots of people while still remaining fun and unexpected.
