Antonio Rüdiger isn’t going anywhere. The German center-back has locked down a contract extension with Real Madrid that keeps him at the Santiago Bernabéu through the summer of 2027, adding one more year to a deal that was originally set to expire after the 2025-26 season.
The club is sitting on this one until after its upcoming presidential election, a pattern that has apparently applied to other player confirmations as well.
What we know about the deal
Rüdiger originally arrived at Real Madrid in June 2022 as a free agent from Chelsea. That initial four-year contract would have seen him through to 2026.
Real Madrid maintains a policy that caps contract renewals at one additional year for players who have crossed the 30-year-old threshold. This policy means Rüdiger gets security through 2027 without the club overcommitting.
