Harry Kane has spent over a decade as one of the most consistent goal scorers on the planet. The one thing missing from his resume is a trophy with England, and he thinks this summer is when that changes.

The 32-year-old Bayern Munich forward says the 2026 FIFA World Cup represents his best opportunity to lift a major international title, pointing to both his own form and the quality of the squad around him as reasons for optimism. England haven’t won the World Cup since 1966, a drought so long it’s become its own punchline in football culture.

Kane’s case for optimism

The numbers back up his confidence. Kane has scored somewhere between 61 and 66 goals across all competitions during the 2025-26 club season with Bayern Munich. He capped off his domestic campaign with a hat-trick in the DFB-Pokal final.

Kane himself described this period as “the best football of my career.”
