Crystal Palace has reached an agreement in principle to appoint Pierre Sage as their new head coach, landing the RC Lens manager on a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year. The deal will cost the South London club approximately £2.5 million in compensation to Lens, a figure that could climb past £4 million if performance bonuses kick in.
What Palace is getting
A base fee of around £2.5 million to release Sage from his Lens contract is relatively modest by Premier League standards. The bonus-laden structure, which could push the total past £4 million, suggests Palace has tied additional payments to on-pitch results.
The three-year base contract with a fourth-year option gives both sides a meaningful runway. Short enough that Palace isn’t stuck if things go sideways, long enough that Sage can actually implement a system.
