Viral support driver Jerome Joel receives new car following grueling 15-day escort mission.
Jason Vanporppal undertook a challenging long-distance skateboarding expedition that began in East Africa and ended at the southern tip of the continent, in Cape Town.
During the final South African leg, Jerome Joel, 44, drove behind him from Johannesburg to Cape Town, maintaining an average speed of around 15 km/h to keep him safe on the road, while also acting as photographer, motivator, laundry assistant and protector.
The pair quickly bonded and became great friends. When he finished his journey, Vanporppal pulled out all the stops and decided to provide Joel with a brand-new car, which he will keep for four months and use to become an ambassador for the brand.
"We came here to Johannesburg to surprise him with his brand-new car. That's why I'm here bro. It was so hard to keep this a secret...He still has no clue," the skater said before the big moment.
