The Consul General of India in Durban, Nitin Shubash Yeola, will be one of the chief guests at the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations on June 21 at the Durban Amphitheatre, hosted by the Sivananda World Peace Foundation.
The event will be held under the theme: "Yoga for Global Peace, Wisdom and Wellness".
"IDY 2026 is not merely a celebration but a profound declaration of our shared humanity. The presence of His Excellency Sri Nitin Shubash Yeola is a testament to the enduring bond between India and South Africa a relationship forged in shared struggles and now elevated through shared spiritual wisdom," said Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu, a member of the Zulu Royal Household and the founding president of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation.
"His participation embodies the spirit of the United Nations' resolution, which recognised yoga not as an exercise, but as a holistic instrument for global health, harmony, and peace. It affirms that the ancient gift of India, yoga, has found a vibrant and nurturing home here in South Africa, under the aegis of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation."
