Embracing diversity and connection, attendees at the International Day of Yoga 2025 demonstrate that yoga transcends boundaries and brings people together.

Durban is once again gearing up to serve as South Africa’s official national hub for the United Nations’ International Day of Yoga (IDY), with the 12th annual celebration slated for Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the iconic Durban Amphitheatre.

Organisers anticipate a turnout of between 4,000 and 5,000 participants for the event, which its host, Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu, says is more vital than ever in promoting social cohesion.

Ramlutchman, a member of the Zulu Royal Household and the founding president of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation, has been the driving force behind the national observance for twelve consecutive years.

He stressed that the true essence of yoga extends beyond physical postures, offering a crucial lesson in unity for a country grappling with division.
