As Copenhagen gears up to welcome the global community of design curious and thought leaders, the city is bracing itself for about 120,000 visitors to 3daysofdesign. The design event kicks off Wednesday, with presentations and exhibits unfolding from the waterfront districts of Christianshavn to Islands Brygge.
A Global Furniture Market report released earlier this month by Deloitte shows the industry reaching 798.5 billion euros in 2025, with that figure set to rise to 872.6 billion euros by 2029, driven by an increasing appetite in lighting design and smart home integration. In its last report for 2026, Statista said the niche furniture manufacturing sector in Denmark hovers between 2.3 billion and 2.8 billion euros.
The event’s managing director Signe Byrdal Terenziani echoed that sentiment and told WWD that 3daysofdesigns strength is growing international attendance, making it one of the top design appointments on the international calendar. They expect to double last year’s number of 60,000 registered visitors.
“Registration and accreditation data indicate increasing participation from key global markets, particularly Germany, Japan and the U.S. These countries consistently represent some of our largest international visitor groups,” she said, adding that in terms of exhibitors, the geographic scope continues to expand, with brands joining the festival from Australia, South Korea, Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland and more.
