A gentle earthquake with preliminary magnitude 3.5 shook the island of Evia late Monday, a day after a strong quake caused consternation there.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the earthquake occurred at 8:40 p.m. some 5 kilometers from Prokopi in northern Evia at a depth of five kilometers.
Seismologists said the tremor was an aftershock of Sunday’s 5.2-magnitude earthquake, whose epicenter was in roughly the same area and which was strongly felt in Athens and other parts of central Greece.
