In line with the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Sivaganga District Collector K. Porkodi here on Monday conducted the mandatory quarterly inspection of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) warehouse.The inspection took place at the high-security EVM strongroom located in the Kanjirangal Panchayat limits. To ensure transparency, the entire process was carried out in the presence of representatives and leaders from all recognised political parties in the district.Apart from the routine structural and security evaluation of the warehouse, officials also carried out a comprehensive maintenance drive for the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines.Under the direct supervision of the Collector, the remaining thermal paper rolls and address tags were carefully removed from the VVPAT units that were previously deployed during the assembly elections. The process covered the machines used across three Assembly Constituencies within the district - Karaikudi, Sivaganga and Manamadurai (Reserved). Published - June 08, 2026 09:12 pm IST
