The process of checking the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and Voters Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) devices meant for the Tiruchi East by-election began here on Wednesday.The strong room, where the EVMs and VVPATs kept at the Old Collector Office, was opened in the presence of Collector Pratik Tayal and representatives of political parties. Six engineers of Bharat Electronics Ltd, appointed by the Election Commission, have been engaged in the process.According to sources, as many as 608 EVMs and VVPATs will be subjected for verification during the process.
