Burly tighthead prop Carlu Sadie has been called up to the Springbok squad and will join mentor Rassie Erasmus and Co in the next few days, SA Rugby revealed on Monday, as the men in Green and Gold work towards their first match of the 2026 season against the Barbarians.
The 29-year-old Sadie will join the camp in Johannesburg alongside Sharks loose-forward Phepsi Buthelezi, who has also been added to the senior national squad.
Buthelezi, along with several Stormers players — including forwards Paul de Villiers, Ben-Jason Dixon, Neethling Fouche, JJ Kotze, Danie Kruger, Ntuthuko Mchunu, Salmaan Moerat, Riley Norton, Zachary Porthen, Oliver Reid, Evan Roos, and Andre-Hugo Venter; and backs Yaqeen Ahmed, Imad Khan, Markus Muller, and Damian Willemse — joined the team on Monday.
The Stormers players have recently returned after their disappointing 20-11 loss to defending United Rugby Championship (URC) champions Leinster this past weekend.
