A new project in Štítnik will let visitors explore centuries of history, art and symbolism while creating a digital archive to support future research.
A new project is set to cast the treasured Gothic church in the village of Štítnik, in eastern Slovakia's Gemer region, in an entirely new light.
A helping hand in the heart of Europe offers our travel guide to Slovakia.
Blending the richness of the Middle Ages with modern digital technology, the project will allow visitors to become time travellers, guiding them through different periods of the church's history using virtual reality. Visitors will be able to meet the artists behind the church's remarkable mural paintings, for instance, and uncover the stories and symbolism hidden within their work.
The Gothic Evangelical church in Štítnik is regarded as one of the crown jewels of Gemer's historic churches.
