The National Statistical Office (NSO) will conduct a four-day regional training camp in Coimbatore from June 9 to 12 ahead of the launch of its 81st round of socio-economic surveys on July 1.The surveys, to be carried out for a year in collaboration with the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Tamil Nadu, will cover migration, the status of agricultural households, and the All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS).The Migration Survey will collect data on migration patterns, reasons for migration, employment and remittances. The agricultural household survey will assess income, expenditure, land and livestock holdings, while the AIDIS will gather information on household assets, liabilities, savings, borrowings and investments.Trained NSO officials will undertake door-to-door data collection in selected rural and urban areas using tablet-based Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) applications.The training programme, to be held at the NSO Regional Office in Ram Nagar, will train Junior Statistical Officers, Sankhya Supervisors and Sankhya Mitras on survey procedures and field operations. Officials of the NSO’s Tamil Nadu (West) region will also participate.The camp will be inaugurated by Vinesh P.P., Director, NSO (Field Operations Division), in the presence of senior officials.
