A 32-year-old Zimbabwean national has been remanded in custody after police uncovered dagga worth an estimated R300,000 during a multi-disciplinary operation in the Giyani policing area.

Lovers Moyo appeared before the Giyani Magistrate's Court on Friday, where his case was postponed to June 12 for a bail application and further police investigations.

The arrest followed a coordinated operation involving the Mopani District Tracking Team, Giyani operational members, the Tzaneen TRT, the Giyani Public Order Policing Unit and private security partners.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the team intercepted a Nissan Qashqai at the intersection of the R529 and R81 on June 3.

“Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 7 wrapped brown bags and 30 black plastics containing dagga with an estimated street value of three hundred thousand rands (R300.000.00),” said Ledwaba.
