Prosecutors have filed four felony terrorism charges against a 37-year-old Palestinian man accused by authorities of preparing an attack against a target linked to Israeli interests, officials said Monday.
The Athens First Instance Prosecutor’s Office brought charges including membership in and formation of a terrorist organization, receiving training in the construction and use of explosives for terrorist purposes, traveling abroad to undergo such training, and providing material support for terrorist activities, according to an official statement.
The suspect has been referred to an investigating magistrate for testimony.
The man was arrested in Crete on Saturday. Authorities have not publicly identified him, in line with standard practice in terrorism-related cases during the early stages of investigation.
According to investigators, the 37-year-old is a Gaza native who was legally employed in Greece as a seasonal hotel worker and had been staying in Agios Nikolaos in eastern Crete.
