The Triplicane police have arrested a man, hailing from Manipur, on charges of selling ganja and painkillers in Chennai.Based on a tip-off received by a police team, led by the Inspector of the Triplicane police station, officers conducted surveillance at the junction of Bells Road and Wallajah Road on Sunday (June 7, 2026) afternoon. During the operation, they intercepted a man who was standing suspiciously with a bag. Upon searching the bag, the police found that he was allegedly in possession of ganja and pain-relief tablets intended for illegal sale.A case was registered at the Triplicane police station and the suspect, identified as Kamsamuan, 34, was arrested. The police seized 1.2 kg of ganja, 305 pain-relief tablets, ₹15,000 believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics, and eight syringes from his possession.During the investigation, the police found that Kamsamuan had allegedly procured ganja and narcotic tablets from another State and sold them in Chennai. It was also revealed that he was previously involved in a ganja-related case registered at the Thiruvanmiyur police station. Published - June 08, 2026 04:17 pm IST
