Introduction

Let me clear one thing up right out of the gate: this is not a teardown of PostHog. In fact, PostHog is an incredible piece of software and one of the primary inspirations for my journey.

But while grinding away on my own side projects, I kept hitting the exact same wall. I desperately wanted product analytics, system monitoring, and operational visibility, but I didn't want the cognitive overhead of managing four different platforms. I didn't want to copy-paste half a dozen different tracking scripts into my frontend, and I definitely didn't want another stack of recurring monthly SaaS bills.

So, like any developer facing a minor inconvenience, I decided to spend weeks of my life building my own solution from scratch.
